Marketing Mode

Wednesday, October 24, 2007 link

I haven't updated the blog in a while because there hasn't been much to talk about. Things have been going slow because I'm in the marketing phase of things, which is completely new to me. I've read at least a dozen marketing books to date, but I've never really done it.

I've experimented with download sites, but I've found them rather useless because of the large volume of software already available, and the page designs make it difficult to find interesting games that aren't in a privileged (paid) position.

I've experimented with AdWords, but it's going to a take a lot more trial-and-error to get the return to a reasonable level.

So my focus right now is getting it out to more reviewers.

Here's a decent one so far:
Out of Eight Review

Joystick Johnny successfully recreates some classic arcade games and presents them in an original concept with a neat overall goal

It has also been entered in the 2008 Independent Games Festival:
IGF - Joystick Johnny page

And I'm in the process of getting it published on a game portal, which I will talk more about when it's a done deal.
